Official seminar & two-day lecture course

From pulsar magnetospheres to astrophysical lasers

The Research Center for Astronomy and Applied Mathematics (RCAAM) of the Academy of Athens welcomes Prof. Maxim Lyutikov Purdue University for an official RCAAM seminar on Fast Radio Bursts, followed by a two-day lecture course on relativistic plasma astrophysics.

The course is aimed at students, junior postdocs and anyone interested in high-energy and plasma astrophysics. No registration is needed.

At a glance

A short, intensive course of three lectures given over two days (3 and 5 November), preceded on 2 November by Prof. Lyutikov's official RCAAM seminar on Fast Radio Bursts.

Level. Advanced graduate. A working knowledge of electrodynamics and basic plasma physics is assumed; see the syllabus.

Undergraduate, MSc and PhD students, junior postdocs, and any researcher or engineer interested in relativistic plasmas. Both the seminar and the course are open to everyone; no registration is needed.

A leading theorist of relativistic plasma astrophysics: pulsar and magnetar magnetospheres, electromagnetic models of gamma-ray bursts and jets, relativistic reconnection, coherent emission and Fast Radio Bursts, and most recently the physics of "astrophysical lasers".
